THE introduction of websites for provincial discipline inspection agencies has been a success, the government said on Friday.
All 31 agencies on the Chinese mainland now have websites, according to the Central Commission for Discipline Inspection of the Communist Party of China.
The sites make it easy for people to report officials for misconduct and numerous tip-offs have been received, it said.
In east China’s Shandong Province, for example, the number of complaints received doubled on the day the site opened.
The Shanghai agency said its website received 70,000 visitors last year, more than double the number reported in 2010.
The sites also make it easier for inspectors to name and shame corrupt officials, while providing a platform for press conferences, open forums and surveys.
