Ex-officials charged in graft cases
检察机关对苏荣杜善学赵少麟孙兆学四案提起公诉

FOUR former senior officials have been charged in separate corruption cases, the Supreme People’s Procuratorate said yesterday.

It named them as Su Rong, a former vice-chairman of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference; Du Shanxue, vice-governor of Shanxi Province; Zhao Shaolin, a former member of the standing committee of the Party’s Jiangsu provincial committee and secretary-general of the provincial Party committee; and Sun Zhaoxue, former general manager of China Aluminum Corp.

Su is alleged to have abused his power as an official in Qinghai, Gansu and Jiangsu provinces, causing “great losses” to the state. He is alleged to have taken bribes to seek profits for others.

His property and expenditure exceeded his legal income, prosecutors said, and he could not explain how he came by the money. He is also accused of having property from unidentified sources.

Du is alleged to have abused his positions as a governor in Changzhi and Luliang, cities in Shanxi, and in the provincial government.

He is alleged to have taken bribes and bribed other officials, and to have property from unidentified sources.

Zhao is charged with bribing others to seek benefits for his son’s business and purchasing foreign exchange through deception.

Sun is charged with taking advantage of his position to secure benefits for others, soliciting and accepting a huge amount in bribes, and holding property from unidentified sources.
