THE former head of a state-owned company in south China's Guangdong Province went on trial for allegedly taking 570 million yuan (US$84 million) in bribes and public property.

The hearing of Zhuang Yao, former president of Guangdong Materials Group, was held at the Intermediate People's Court of Maoming City, Guangdong from Tuesday to Thursday.

The company was renamed Guangdong GW Holdings Group Co., Ltd. in November 2015.
