The Party is investigating Wei Likun, chairman of the People's Political Consultative Conference in Yangjiang City, Guangdong Province, after she was accused of serious disciplinary violations.
According to the investigation, Wei abused her power to seek benefits for others and accepted huge bribes. Her actions have allegedly resulted in huge economic losses to the country.
She has been expelled from the Party and removed from her post. Her illegal income has been confiscated. She has been transferred to judicial departments for a criminal investigation and possible prosecution.
