THE disciplinary watchdog of the Communist Party of China (CPC) uncovered 1,650 cases of eight-point anti-graft rule violations involving 2,133 people in January, according to an announcement today.

Of those who committed violations, 1,406 have been given Party or administrative punishment, said the CPC Central Commission for Discipline Inspection (CCDI).

The violations include private use of official cars, illegal subsidies, lavish spending at weddings and funerals, accepting festival gifts and use of public funds for high-end entertainment activities and travel.

In 2014, disciplinary organs at all levels punished 71,748 people for violations of anti-graft rules, with 23,646 given Party or administrative punishment.

According to the CCDI, monthly reports of violations will be made by 31 provincial-level regions, the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps and 59 state organs.
