Senior Jiangxi official expelled from CPC
江西省人大常委会原副主任陈安众被开除党籍公职
CHEN Anzhong, former deputy director of the standing committee of the provincial people's congress in east China's Jiangxi Province, has been expelled from the Communist Party of China (CPC) and public office for "serious disciplinary and legal violations."
The decision was made by the CPC Central Commission for Discipline Inspection (CCDI) and approved by the CPC Central Committee, the CCDI announced today.
A CCDI investigation into Chen's suspected legal and disciplinary transgressions found that he took advantage of his position to seek benefits for others and received "a huge amount" of money or gifts either personally or through related persons, according to a CCDI statement.
He is "morally corrupt," the statement said.
Chen's suspected crimes will be transferred to judicial authorities, it added.
Also today, the Supreme People's Procuratorate announced it has decided to investigate Chen for alleged bribe-taking.
The investigation is under way, according to an SPP statement.
The top procuratorate has taken "compulsory measures" against him in accordance with the law.
Compulsory measures that may be taken by judicial organs include issuing a warrant to compel the appearance of the suspects, bail pending trial and residential surveillance, according to the Criminal Procedure Law.
Chen was confirmed to have been placed under CCDI investigation and dismissed from his post in December.
