Senior Shanghai official accused of disciplinary violations

A senior Shanghai government official and the former head of the city’s free trade pilot zone has been accused of serious disciplinary violations, the city’s Party discipline inspection commission announced this afternoon.

Dai Haibo, the deputy secretary-general of Shanghai and former executive deputy director of the China (Shanghai) Pilot Free Trade Zone Administration is being investigated, the commission said.

Dai was transferred from the FTZ post in September 2014 and was replaced by Chen Yin, former Party secretary of Yangpu District. Chen has been appointed Party secretary and executive deputy director of the FTZ administration.

Dai, 53, was appointed secretary-general of the city government in February 2013 and became the executive deputy director of the FTZ administration when it was established in September 2013.
