WU Changshun, former police chief of Tianjin Municipality, has been expelled from the Communist Party of China (CPC) for bribery, adultery and abuse of power, the CPC's anti-graft watchdog announced on Friday.
Wu was also removed from the post of vice chairman of the Tianjin Municipal Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference in July, after he was put under investigation by the CPC Central Commission for Discipline Inspection.
The investigation found that Wu breached frugality rules to accept cash and gifts, attended luxury banquets and ran companies, which is forbidden for officials, the commission said in Friday's statement.
Wu also embezzled public funds, accepted large bribes, bribed others and abused his position to "seek benefits for others in official selection and appointments as well as the operation of companies," it said.
He also committed adultery, according to the commission.
As a senior Party leader, Wu seriously violated the Party's rules, and has caused "extremely bad social impacts," it said.
The properties illegally gained by Wu will be confiscated and his case will now be transferred to judical organs.
