Top power official expelled over bribes
中国电力建设集团副总经理黄保东被"双开"

A FORMER senior official with a state-owned power project has been expelled from the Party for taking huge bribes, China’s anti-graft watchdog announced yesterday.

Huang Baodong, former deputy general manager of Power Construction Corp of China is the latest in a series of energy sector official to face anti-graft investigations.

Huang has been removed from the Party and public office, said the Central Commission for Discipline Inspection.

“Huang Baodong took advantage of his position to seek benefits for others and took huge amounts in bribes,” the watchdog said, adding that Huang is under criminal investigation.

It didn’t give other details.

Since last year, China has launched several probes into the energy sector as part of a government anti-graft campaign.

This has brought down high-ranking officials in state energy companies such as China National Petroleum Corp and the State Grid Corp of China, and also officials at the National Energy Administration.
