11 rats aboard plane arriving for repair at Xiamen Airport
ELEVEN live rats were found on a plane arriving for repair on September 30 at southeast China’s Xiamen Airport, which inspection and quarantine authorities said was the most rats they had ever detected on an inbound plane.
The inspectors found a rat’s nest with 10 suckling rat pups under a seat in business class on the plane from Hong Kong. They immediately closed the cabin and launched an airport public health emergency plan.
They found another rat in the cabin the next day after the closure. The quarantine measures were lifted after a search found no more evidence of rodents.
