19 miners rescued after being trapped over 160 hours in NE China
NINETEEN miners in a flooded mine in northeast China's Heilongjiang Province have been rescued as of early today morning after being trapped for more than 160 hours.
Three others still remain missing and the rescue work is continuing, Xu Guangguo, vice governor of the province said.
The flood occurred last Tuesday, when 45 minters were working inside the Hengtai Coal Mine in the city of Qitaihe – 19 escaped, Xinhua news agency reported today.
Three were rescued on Saturday while one died as he tried to keep up with his colleagues crawling along a shaft toward rescuers.
