26 die when truck blast topples bridge

A truck laden with firecrackers exploded this morning in central Henan Province, causing a highway bridge to collapse and killing 26 people, China National Radio reported.
The blast happened around 9am when the truck was traveling over a bridge on Highway G30 near Sanmenxia City.
Part of the bridge caved in and several vehicles fell off the bridge. Debris and vehicle wreckage piled around bridge pillars, the report said.
Police shut this section of the highway as rescue operation was continuing.
