43 dead in Jilin slaughterhouse blast
At least 43 people were killed on early this morning in a poultry processing plant blast in northeast China's Jilin Province, Xinhua News Agency reported.
The explosion took place at around 6:06am at a slaughterhouse owned by the Jilin Baoyuan Poultry Company in Mishazi Township of Dehui City, according to firefighters.
The blast caused a fire and trapped workers inside. As of 10:50am, the fire has not been put out and rescue work is under way.
The fire has so far claimed 43 lives with 41 others being sent to hospitals, according to China Central Television.
