Beijing’s 7th ring road complete by 2017
BEIJING’S seventh ring road will be fully completed by 2017, it was announced yesterday.
About 850 kilometers of the 940-kilometer expressway will be in Hebei and it will also connect with neighboring Tianjin.
Several sections are already complete, including one linking Zhangjiakou with Zhuozhou and Langfang with Zhuozhou.
Others such as the Zhangjiakou-Chengde expressway and one from Zhuozhou to Miyun County in the capital are still under construction.
The road is the inner circle of two planned expressways which will link adjacent cities to Beijing, China Central Television said yesterday. The outer circle will be a 1,250-kilometer expressway.
It said the two expressways will form part of a final transport layout which will consist of highways, hub cities, airports and harbors connecting more cities and counties.
The integration of transport infrastructure is a priority for the coordinated development of Beijing, Tianjin and Hebei, officials said, and will reduce vehicle pollution in the capital as well as boosting regional development.
By 2020, said Gao Jinhao, head of the Hebei Transport Department, one-hour travel will be realized between Beijing, Tianjin and adjacent cities.
