Death sentence over fatal cop stabbing

A MAN has been sentenced to death for a stabbing spree that led to one death and three injuries in a courtroom last year in southwest China's Guizhou Province.
Tongren Intermediate People's Court today handed down the verdict for manslaughter to He Shengkai, 30, Xinhua news agency reported.
The Tongren court said He was sentenced by a lower court in Zunyi to 2 1/2 years' jail in 2005 on charges of malicious wounding over a house dispute with his neighbor. His appeal against the decision was turned down by the intermediate people's court.
Out of resentment, He decided to take revenge against the court officers after he was released from jail in March 2008, the report said.
At 4pm on September 14 last year, He broke into the intermediate court in downtown Zunyi, and stabbed court policeman Zhong Shixin, two security guards and a woman clerk.
Zhong died in hospital that night. The other three were injured, including two seriously.
