Death toll rises to 20 as bus overloaded with kids hits truck

At least 20 people, mostly preschoolers, were killed after a kindergarten school bus which has nine seats but carried 64 people had a head-on collision with a truck in northwest China's Gansu Province this morning.
Of the 20 dead, at least 17 were children of the Yulinzi Township Kindergarten in Zhengning County, in the city of Qingyang, it said.
Safety authorities have blamed overloading for the fatal accident, the provincial work safety bureau said in a press release.
Another 44 were hospitalized with injuries, including 12 serious cases, the document said.
The truck driver has been put under police control and investigation is underway.
