Destructive tornado hits Guangdong, no casualty reported
A tornado tore through three villages in south China's Guangdong Province yesterday morning, causing property damages but no casualty, Guangzhou Daily reported today.
In Dabu Town of Ruyuan Yao Nationality Autonomous County, one house collapsed and the roofs of 53 houses were blown away by the tornado. Fortunately, the tornado came at about 5am when most villagers were at home instead of working in the field due to the rain, which saved their lives.
Local villagers told the newspaper that the tornado's threatening noise woke up them from sleep and they saw their roofs being ripped off by the wind. The local civil affairs department has dispensed relief supplies to the victims, they said.
