Drunk man stabs 2 police officers dead in southwest China village

TWO police officers in a village in southwest China's Yunnan Province were stabbed dead by a drunk man early yesterday morning as they tried to stop him from disturbing others.
The incident took place about 5am in the Yiliang County of Kunming City. The local police confirmed the suspect, Li Gui, was later arrested.
Several pupils discovered dead bodies of the two officers lying on the village road on their way to school about 7am. It's alleged that Li, heavily drunk, stabbed the pair as they tried to stop him from disturbing his brother's family.
Villagers said Li is an alcoholic and constantly lost his mind after drinking. He broke into his brother's house with a knife about 4am and the frightened couple alarmed the police.
The couple followed the two officers' advice to run off to avoid the dangerous man and did not know what happened afterwards. Villagers said one officer was stabbed in the abdomen and the other in the chest. It's suggested they were seriously injured at first but left to die without help as all nearby villagers were asleep then.
