Filipino gunmen ask ransom for 2 kidnapped Chinese

GUNMEN who abducted two Chinese businessmen in the southern Philippines on June 4 are demanding US$5 million ransom, China News Service reported today.
The abductors contacted the victims' families last Sunday but didn't let the two Chinese to speak to their families, the governor of Kabasalan, a town in the southern province of Zamboanga Sibugay, where the incident happened, told local media.
Six gunmen broke into the victims' rented house at about 8pm Sunday and kidnapped them at gunpoint.
Local police have identified the two Chinese as Jampong Lin and James Lou, both from China's Guangdong Province, and they were there to do mining business.
Chinese consulate officials in Cebu told CNS that they are in close contact with local authorities and urged them to ensure the two Chinese citizens are safe and rescue them as soon as possible.
