Girl, 3, in coma after domestic violence

A THREE-YEAR-OLD girl has been in a deep coma for two days with a swollen head and extensive bruises after her mother allegedly punched her to the ground in southern China.
The girl, nicknamed Yingying, is in a critical condition in an intensive care unit at Nanshan Hospital in Guangdong Province's Shenzhen City, today's South Metropolis Daily reported.
Her mother was caught by police on Wednesday when she sneaked to the hospital to see her daughter, the newspaper said. Police said the mother, 24, is two months pregnant and may be exempt from criminal punishment.
The girl was sent to hospital later on Tuesday night, a doctor surnamed Hong told the newspaper. The father hinted that his wife had injured the girl, who is still on a breathing machine, he said.
The father told the newspaper that his wife had developed a bad temper since becoming pregnant again, and alleged she often beat the girl for being "too naughty."
