Kindergarten principal accused of molesting girl

A KINDERGARTEN principal has been detained for molesting girls in China's northwestern Shaanxi Province, Xi'an Evening News reported yesterday.
The principal, 60, molested a five-year-old girl when paying a home visit at the end of last month, the newspaper said.
The man, surnamed Ma, fled after parents reported him to police. He was caught and detained by police this week.
Ma, principal of Yuying Kindergarten in Yuchu Village of Gaoling County, paid a visit to the victim on the evening of January 24.
The girl's grandmother led him to the girl's room. She didn't have any suspicions and left them in the house. Later she was shocked to find the man exposing the naked lower part of his body to the girl.
"I felt a little strange when I saw him hugging the girl," the grandmother told the newspaper. "Who knew he would do that later?"
She shouted, frightening Ma away. The girl's parents reported the case that night.
Ma escaped but police distributed his information on their network, carrying out manhunt nationwide.
Four other families told police that their children had also been molested by Ma at the kindergarten.
Ma was caught on Tuesday and detained the next day for investigation of child molestation.
The kindergarten, which opened about 20 years ago, is a family-run private kindergarten, the newspaper said.
Officials set up another kindergarten in the village for the Yuying students.
