Lab test clears doubt on Abbott milk powder

Tests by a US-based independent lab accredited by the International Standardization Organization have shown that a baby formula produced by Abbott Laboratories and sold on the mainland market complies with the Chinese standards.
The news may help ease the worries of many Chinese parents who were upset last month by a report from CER Research, a Hong Kong-based corporate research and investigative company, that the Abbott Advance Similac Stage 1 baby formula was low on whey protein level.
The ISO-accredited Covance Laboratories Inc published its test results of the product sample and said the formula meets the quality standards of the mainland food administration.
CER Research has agreed under a Hong Kong court order to immediately remove its report from its Website.
