Midwife in anus-stitching scandal sues for compensation

A midwife, who was suspended from job in a hospital after a woman accused her of stitching up her anus after childbirth in revenge for not getting her cash tip, has sued the woman for 10,000 yuan (US$15,016) in compensation for reputation damage.

Zhang Jirong, the midwife of Shenzhen Fenghuang Hospital in Guangdong Province, has filed lawsuits against the unidentified woman and two Shenzhen media organizations for allegedly damaging her reputation, Shandong TV reported today.

The report didn't give more details.

In response, the woman's husband, surnamed Chen, immediately hired a lawyer to file a charge against Zhang, demanding a public apology and one yuan in compensation for the mental sufferings Zhang caused the family.

Chen said he was angry as he was busy taking care of her wife and newborn child and delayed his plan to bring Zhang and the hospital to court.
