Naked boy earns praises for CCTV

A naked boy who hid in the family wardrobe when Chinese Vice Premier Li Keqiang paid a random visit to his shabby home in a village in Inner Mongolia was caught by a CCTV camera as he sneaked out and went back into his quilt.

The uncut news footage showed the vice premier visiting the homes of poverty-stricken villagers, many of them migrant workers coming home for the Chinese New Year.

As he was talking to one family, the boy suddenly popped into view and his naked hips were shown to millions of CCTV viewers.

The parents apparently got the boy out of bed and into the wardrobe as they realized a group of officials and journalists were coming toward their house. The boy probably felt uncomfortable and decided to get into bed again, unaware the TV camera was aiming his way.

The footage went viral on the Internet and drew many favorable comments for CCTV as the state-run television is long associated with austere and stereotyped reporting.

"CCTV has changed! I hope it can continue this kind of documentary style of news reporting," one microblogger praised.
