Two cops fatally wounded in Shenzhen police station

Shenzhen police said early this morning that they are investigating the death of its two officers who were found in a pool of blood in a police station last night in the south China city in Guangdong Province.

They were identified only by surnames Yang, around 30, and Wu in his 50s.

Zhu Zhiqiang, deputy director of the Gongjiao Police Sub-bureau in the city's Luohu District, told the media that Yang and Wu were found fatally wounded in their office and were discovered by an employee between 8:30pm and 9pm yesterday.


They were bleeding profusely and were rushed to the Luohu District Hospital but both died despite emergency treatment.

A witness told Shenzhen Special Zone Daily that he saw medical staff wheeled two injured men in police uniforms out of the police station around 9:10pm. He said both policemen had head wounds but he couldn't tell if they were gunshot wounds.

The newspaper said speculation is rift about the death of the two policemen. Some said the two had enmity against each other and shot one another. Others said they were attacked by a gangster who broke into the police station.

The paper learned that the younger officer surnamed Yang was newly promoted.
