Another city hub as Songjiang Railway Station comes on track
Along with the operation of the Shanghai-Suzhou-Huzhou High-Speed Railway, Shanghai Songjiang Railway Station was put into use yesterday, China Railway Shanghai Group announced.
Located to the southeast of the city, Songjiang Railway Station will serve as another significant transportation hub, along with the existing Shanghai Hongqiao Railway Station and the under-construction Shanghai East Railway Station.
The station has a total construction area of about 68,000 square meters, divided into the square level, platform level, waiting area level, and commercial level.
During the initial period of operation (until January 4), there will be 23 trains operating daily, including trains to Huangshan, Yiwu, Wenzhou, Hefei, Wuhu, Hangzhou as well as the Hongqiao hub.
The fastest travel times from Songjiang Station to various destinations are as follows:
Seventeen minutes to Hongqiao Station.
Fifteen minutes to Suzhou South.
Forty-six minutes to Huzhou.
One hour to Hangzhou West Station.
Two hours and 58 minutes to Wenzhou North Station.
For longer distances: The fastest trip to Nanjing South Station takes 108 minutes; 164 minutes to Hefei South Station; 155 minutes to Xuancheng; 159 minutes to Huangshan North Station; and 116 minutes to Wuhu Station.
Additionally, Songjiang Station will start operating high-speed trains to tourist site Hengdian, with the fastest journey taking 144 minutes.
From January 5, the newly opened station will handle 113 high-speed trains and 77 conventional trains daily.
The services will cover more than 20 provinces, including Jiangsu, Zhejiang, Anhui, Fujian, Jiangxi, and Hubei.
Passengers will be able to travel to cities such as Nanjing, Hangzhou, Suzhou, Huzhou, Wenzhou, Xuancheng, Huangshan, Wuhu, Fuzhou, Wuhan, and Nanchang by boarding a train at Songjiang Station.
A total of 43 passenger trains will operate between Songjiang Station and Hongqiao Station, with an additional 20 trains running between Songjiang Station and Shanghai South Station. The fastest journey for the entire route will take just 14 minutes.
