Burglar locked in flat almost starves to death
A thief was found barely breathing after a homeowner accidentally locked him in an apartment in an eastern China city with no food for four days.
The suspect, surnamed He, allegedly sneaked into the sixth floor Taicang City apartment in Jiangsu Province after seeing the door wide open. He had hid in another room and planned to steal things after the owner of the apartment left, Anhui TV reported today.
The apartment owner soon left and locked the door from the outside without knowing there was someone inside.
He was devastated to find no food after rummaging through the apartment's closets and drawers. What made matter worse was that his cellphone battery was flat and he couldn't call for help.
When the owner returned four days later, He was barely breathing and couldn't stand on his feet. The owner called the police and He was detained for theft.
