Lottery winner hospitalized over fear of being robbed
A lottery winner in Jiangsu Province spent three days in hospital because he was so nervous about being robbed of the ticket he could not eat or sleep.
The man surnamed Li of Suqian City said he was so afraid that his ticket might be stolen that he could not eat or sleep for three days so his family, unaware of the win, sent him to hospital.
When Li eventually visited the lottery center he was shaking so much he had trouble taking out the 12.5-million-yuan winning ticket, reported Yangtze Evening Post today.
He had trouble holding the pen when signing the paperwork and repeatedly told staff to keep his identity secret.
He said before claiming the money he even rented a room in a five-star hotel to hide the ticket but still could not relax.
He tried many spots, including under the carpet, but didn't think they were safe.
He eventually wrapped it in six plastic bags and hid it in the toilet cistern. Still, he checked it every 10 minutes.
Now he has the money, he is still worried about his wife, who would "certainly have a heart attack" if she found out about the news.
Li said he will only tell his wife about the prize after he fully prepared her for the surprise.
