Office worker saddles up for horseback commute
A YOUNG office worker in eastern Jiangsu Province has caused a stir by riding a horse to work instead of his SUV, according to Yangtze Evening Post today.
The rider surnamed Xu is in his early 20s, and borrows a horse from his friend nearby, who raises them in Changzhou City.
On October 4 he rode a white horse to attend a wedding. Xu said he was so flattered by the attention and the stunned faces of his friends and relatives that he decided to ride regularly to work.
Since he lives only five minutes away from his office, he doesn't save much petrol, but his company even set aside a small parcel of grassland for him to tether his horse and feed it while he's at work.
The city's traffic police said there were no regulations banning horse riding on roads, but advised Xu not to ride during rush hours for safety's sake.
