Woman survives 60-meter fall on thick snow
A WOMAN who fell from her 18th-floor home balcony in Beijing while hanging laundry has survived the 60-meter drop after being cushioned by thick snowdrifts.
The 26-year-old office worker surnamed Ou suffered broken bones and is being treated at the Peking University Third Hospital, today's Beijing News reported.
Not fully out of danger, she is receiving a blood transfusion, doctors told the newspaper.
Ou was hanging laundry in Chaoyang District yesterday morning when she suddenly fell from the balcony, the newspaper said.
She fell into 10 centimeters of snow after her fall was broken by bushes. Passers-by found her and security guards called police and emergency services, the newspaper said.
One of her roommates said she had warned Ou about hanging laundry on the balcony because the balcony barrier was only one meter high, the newspaper reported.
