Apple Inc should pay for IP thefts

IPADS are selling like hotcakes all over the world, while Apple Inc is busy responding to accusations ranging from trademark infringement, to toleration of sweatshops.

In the latest case, the company is accused of selling or providing free downloads of nearly a hundred literary productions in its store without any authorization.

Recently 22 well-known Chinese writers launched a class action against Apple for piracy.

An official from the State Copyright Bureau said on Saturday that Apple stores are guilty of thefts of intellectual property, though this could be formally established only by relevant authorities.

Reporters investigating the case found that Apple stores already have a well-developed chain that profits from such thefts.

According to insiders, somebody who uploads a document stands to gain 70 percent of the subsequent sales, while Apple pockets the rest.

Given the profit involved in the sales of pirated products, Apple has a lot to gain by being an accomplice in the illegal dealings.

Make Apple pay for the thefts.
