Inertia and irresponsibility

THIS seems to be a season of accidents.

This month alone witnessed numerous deadly accidents, from mine and bridge collapses to car and train collisions.

On July 23 (Saturday), the day when two bullet trains collided in Wenzhou, Zhejiang Province, the State Council stressed that irresponsible officials and businessmen operating illegally were behind the deadly tragedy that killed at least 38 people.

In other words, the train crash was not a natural disaster wrought by the weather, but a human disaster wrought by irresponsibility.

We cannot but ask: Why does one accident happen after another as if there's no end? Why don't we draw a lesson and prevent similar accidents from happening?

The answer, my friends, is blowing in the system- a system of inertia and irresponsibility.
