AVB lashes out
Tottenham manager Andre Villas-Boas lashed out at the “incompetent people” who criticized his team’s medical staff for allowing goalkeeper Hugo Lloris to continue playing on Sunday after being briefly knocked unconscious. Villas-Boas said club doctor Shabaaz Mughal and physio Geoff Scott deserve more credit. The pair played key roles in saving the life of Fabrice Muamba, who suffered an on-field cardiac arrest while playing for Bolton against Tottenham in an FA Cup match in 2012. Villas-Boas said it’s “extremely disappointing” that Mughal and Scott “were heavily put into question by lots of incompetent people, with absolutely no experience on the pitch.”
