Aiken captures Avantha Masters
SOUTH African Thomas Aiken clinched the second European Tour title of his career yesterday as he shot a 5-under 67 for a 23-under total of 265 to win the Avantha Masters in Greater Noida, outside New Delhi.
Overnight leader Aiken fired three birdies on the front nine and two more on his way back to maintain a three-shot lead over the chasing pack. India's Gaganjeet Bhullar rallied for an 8-under 64 that included three birdies on his last five holes to finish runner-up after starting the final round six strokes behind Aiken in joint eighth. Chinese player Liang Wenchong shot a 3-under 69 to finish third on 270.
