NASCAR fined Nelson Piquet Jr. US$10,000 on Tuesday and ordered him to attend sensitivity training for using an anti-gay slur on social media. The Nationwide Series driver posted the remark on Instagram on September 25. Turner Scott Motorsports said it had addressed the issue with Piquet, who understood the team does not tolerate such remarks.
