Archers from 49 countries to compete in Shanghai

THE 2012 Archery World Cup is scheduled to run in Shanghai from April 10 to 15, the local organizer said today.

As the tournament is one of the few warm-up events before the London Olympics and more than 442 athletes and coaches from 49 countries have registered for the event, said Lang Wei, deputy director of the Shooting and Archery Center of the State General Administration of Sports.

China will form its national team for the London Olympics after the tournament, which will have semifinals and finals on April 14 and 15 on the Riverside Avenue in Pudong.

Spectators will be able to enjoy the archery matches against the backdrop of the Bund. Matches in the first four days will be held in Pudong's Yuanshen Stadium and will be free to the public. Tickets for matches of last two days will cost 20 yuan (US$3.2) each, the organizer said.
