BRITISH police have opened an investigation after an Arsenal fan threw a banana at Tottenham winger Gareth Bale during the north London derby on Sunday. The piece of fruit was hurled as Bale, who is Caucasion, went to take a corner during the first half of the Premier League match at White Hart Lane. Police are examining camera footage to try and identify the suspect. Bale opened the scoring in Tottenham's 2-1 win.
