Barry in talks with City over transfer

ASTON Villa captain Gareth Barry is in talks with Manchester City over a transfer to the English Premier League's richest club.

The England midfielder almost joined Liverpool a year ago because of what he said was a desire to play in the Champions League, but may now be about to join a City side that finished six places and 22 points behind this season's four qualifiers. Villa ended up in sixth place, four spots higher than City. Villa confirmed on its Website yesterday that Barry has started talks with City.
