Beijing spikers top Shanghai to retain the national crown

BEIJING retained the Chinese men’s volleyball national league title after beating Shanghai 1-3 in the decider yesterday.
Beijing took the first two sets 25-22, 28-26 before Shanghai fought back 25-20 in the third set. But Beijing clinched the fourth 25-23 to retain the crown.
Both teams won their home games before yesterday’s match at Hongkou Indoor Stadium. Shanghai topped the 12-team league in regular season this year without losing a single match while Beijing finished second. Shanghai dominated the sport, winning 10 straight titles since the 2003-04 season.
