Braun to appeal
RYAN Braun, the 2011 National League most valuable player, has appealed a reported positive test for a performance-enhancing substance, according to US media reports. A representative of Creative Artists Agency, which represents Braun, said in a statement: "There are highly unusual circumstances surrounding this case which will support Ryan's complete innocence and demonstrate that there was absolutely no intentional violation of the program." As a potential first time violator of Major League Baseball's Joint Drug Prevention and Treatment Policy, Braun could face a 50-game suspension. He batted .332 with 33 home runs and 111 RBI last season with the Milwaukee Brewers.
