Brisbane a 鈥楲aughing stock of Asia鈥
Brisbane Roar was slammed as the 鈥渓aughing stock of Asia鈥 and 鈥渢ruly embarrassing鈥 yesterday after a shocking loss to Philippine minnow Ceres Negros in an AFC Champions League qualifier.
Roar suffered more embarrassment when some players鈥 shirt numbers peeled off during the game. The club lost the game 3-2.
The game turned farcical in the second half when Roar was reduced to 10 men after Eric Bautheac had to wait on the sidelines for several minutes after his number, 22, peeled off the back of his shirt. Bautheac returned to the field with a No.77 shirt with tape to make it look like a No.22. Roar coach John Aloisi blamed his players for their attitudes. 鈥淚 won鈥檛 walk away ... I don鈥檛 give up,鈥 Aloisi said.
