Byrnes banned
THE Melbourne Rebels plan to appeal the 10-week suspension imposed on lock Adam Byrnes yesterday after he was found guilty of making contact with the eye of an opposing player in a Super 15 loss to New South Wales. Byrnes was cited for making contact with the eye of Waratahs center Tom Carter in Friday's match at Melbourne. SANZAR judicial officer Paul Tully decided after a hearing that there was enough evidence to support the allegation that contact had been made with Carter's right eye and bridge of his nose in a ruck in the 27th minute.
