CAS dismisses Bin Hamman Asia plea
SUSPENDED Asian Football Confederation president Mohammed Bin Hammam's injunction order against the sport's continental governing body has been rejected by the Court of Arbitration for Sport.
Bin Hammam was banned by FIFA in July from all football activities for life for his role in allegedly offering bribes to Caribbean FIFA members in exchange for votes in the FIFA presidential election. The Qatari official had been seeking an injunction against the newly appointed Chinese official Zhang Jilong as AFC interim president and FIFA executive committee member while the life ban is under appeal. The AFC said it was strictly following its statutes by appointing Zhang as interim president.
