RYAN Nugent-Hopkins and Ryan Strome scored as Canada beat the United States 2-1 yesterday and advanced to the next round at the World Junior Hockey Championship in Ufa, Russia.
Canada is in first place in Group B, one point ahead of Russia. The two teams play today to renew hockey's greatest rivalry and determine the group winner. In Group A, Finland beat Switzerland 5-4 on a shootout goal by Markus Granlund, who also scored twice in regulation time. On Saturday, tournament host Russia routed Germany 7-0. Yaroslav Kosov scored a hat trick in the third period for the Russians.
