Chen, Joshua crowned at World China 9-Ball Open
HOME favorite Chen Siming and Joshua Filler of Germany won the women’s and men’s titles, respectively, at the 2017 World 9-Ball China Open, which concluded in Pudong New Area, Shanghai, yesterday.
The event featured the world’s top 16 male and top 8 female players. China’s women players continued their dominance of the sport, claiming three of the four semifinal spots. Chen edged world No. 3 Liu Shasha 9-8 in yesterday’s final to take the championship. Fellow Chinese Fu Xiaofang finished third. The men’s title went to Filler, who beat Chinese Taipei player Chang Jung-lin 11-6 in the final. China’s “9-Ball Queen” Pan Xiaoting also took part in this year’s competition. She advanced to the last 8, conquering compatriot Jiang Teng before losing to Liu.
