China cycle race called off for a second time
A CHINESE cycle race added to the World Tour last year only to be postponed seven months later has been cancelled again this season, the International Cycling Union announced.
The inaugural Tour of Hangzhou was included on the cycling calendar last February and was due to be held in October, but in August the UCI postponed it for a year. At a meeting last week the organization announced the event had been "frozen" as "basic conditions for organizing a race at UCI World Tour level would not be met in the short term". The 2013 Tour of Beijing was moved forward from October 16-20 to 11-15 "in order to ensure the consistency of the calendar", the UCI said.
