China dominates at weightlifting worlds
CHINA won both classes in the world weightlifting championships in Paris on Saturday, with Wu Jingbiao taking the men's 56-kilogram division and Tian Yuan the women's 48kg category.
Wu retained his world title by lifting 133kg in the snatch and 159kg in the clean and jerk for a combined 292kg. Wu's compatriot Zhao Chaojun won the silver medal with a 284 total, and Valentin Hristov of Azerbaijan hoisted 276 in aggregate for the bronze. Tian snatched 90kg and clean and jerked 117kg for a winning combined total of 207kg. Panida Khamsri of Thailand finished second with a 187 total, and Nurdan Karagoz of Turkey placed third with a combined 183.
