CHINA upset favorite Italy to win the men's team foil gold medal at the fencing world championships in Paris on Thursday.
The Chinese won 45-43 in the final after Lei Sheng, Huang Liangcai and Zhu Jun had trailed 36-40. Lei beat Andrea Baldini 9-3 to give his team its first gold medal at the tournament.
Japan won the bronze with a 45-42 victory over Russia.
Italy topped the standings with two golds and seven medals.
