Chinese shuttlers top nominations
CHINESE shuttlers dominate the nominations of best badminton players for 2012, which were announced by the Badminton World Federation yesterday after bagging all five gold medals at the London Olympics.
Lin Dan is the leading nominee for Male Player of the Year award. The 29-year-old sealed his place as one of the most successful shuttlers ever by winning his second singles Olympic gold in London. World No. 1 Lee Chong Wei of Malaysia was also nominated. Others nominated for best male players are bronze medalist Chen Long and compatriots Cai Yun and Fu Haifeng, the men's doubles Olympic winners. Women's singles finalists in London, Li Xuerui and Wang Yihan, were named for Female Player of the Year.
