Clarke in one-day squad for India

Australian selectors have included captain Michael Clarke and Shane Watson in October’s seven-match one-day series in India, while the high-profile trio of David Warner, Matthew Wade and Fawad Ahmed were omitted.

Australia named a 14-man squad yesterday that also includes Mitchell Johnson, George Bailey, James Faulkner and Phil Hughes, who will all be pushing their case to play in the opening Ashes test at Brisbane’s Gabba in November. The India tour opens with a Twenty20 match on October 10. Clarke was troubled by back problems throughout Australia’s recent Ashes tour of England and said on Wednesday he was “stiff and sore” following the three-month trip. Watson was also hampered by hip and groin injuries.
